In 1912, a cable car system was opened in Rio de Janeiro, connecting the base of Babilônia Hill to Urca Hill and Urca Hill to the peak of Sugarloaf Mountain. Today, the Sugarloaf Mountain Cable Car is world famous and has transported around 37 million people.
